Cryptocurrency adoption in Brazil has reached a notable milestone, with a new national survey showing that more Brazilians have invested in crypto than in stocks. The findings highlight how digital assets are rapidly moving from a niche market into a mainstream investment category across Latin America’s largest economy.
The second National Crypto Survey, conducted by Paradigma Education in partnership with Datafolha, found that 17.2% of Brazilians aged 16 and above have invested in cryptocurrencies, equivalent to nearly 29 million people. By comparison, only 7.4% reported having invested in stocks. Crypto also surpassed CDBs and government bonds, which were cited by 15.1% of respondents.
The shift is particularly significant because cryptocurrency awareness is expanding alongside ownership. Around 66.4% of Brazilians said they know about cryptocurrencies, representing an increase of 10.1 percentage points from the previous survey in 2025. Bitcoin and Ethereum remain the most recognized digital assets, while Brazil’s Drex central bank digital currency project also has considerable awareness.
The survey also challenges the idea that crypto adoption is concentrated among wealthy investors. About 77.6% of Brazilian crypto investors earn up to three minimum wages, while 83% reportedly access crypto through banking applications. This suggests that convenience, accessibility and the growing integration of digital assets into financial platforms are helping broaden participation.
What It Means for $BTC
Bitcoin stands to benefit significantly from this trend. As the most recognized cryptocurrency in Brazil, rising adoption can strengthen $BTC's position as the primary gateway into the digital-asset market. Greater retail participation also creates a larger potential user base for exchanges, payment applications and investment products linked to Bitcoin.
Brazil's growing crypto participation could therefore become an important long-term demand driver. However, adoption alone does not guarantee higher prices. $BTC remains sensitive to global liquidity, institutional flows, interest rates, regulation and broader risk appetite.
Impact on Other Cryptos
The implications extend beyond Bitcoin. Ethereum, which ranks second in recognition among Brazilian investors, could benefit as newcomers move beyond the largest cryptocurrency and explore smart-contract platforms, staking and decentralized applications.
Altcoins could also see increased attention as Brazil's crypto market matures. More users entering through established assets such as $BTC and $ETH could eventually diversify into assets such as $SOL, $XRP and other major cryptocurrencies.
Stablecoins are another important piece of the story. Their use as dollar-linked assets can make them attractive to Brazilians seeking exposure to the U.S. dollar or alternatives for cross-border transactions.
Brazil's latest survey therefore signals something larger than a simple comparison between crypto and stocks. It shows that digital assets are becoming embedded in the country's investment culture. With nearly 29 million people having invested in crypto, Brazil is emerging as one of the world's important adoption markets.
If this trajectory continues, rising awareness and accessibility could provide a durable foundation for broader cryptocurrency adoption, with $BTC likely remaining at the center of that expansion.
